About Council Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a strategic, community-minded Chief Executive Officer to lead its next chapter. Located in Central Queensland and just over 2 hours from Rockhampton, Woorabinda is a proud Aboriginal community with a population of around 1,000 residents and a deep cultural heritage. The Role As CEO, you will report directly to the Mayor and work closely with Councillors to deliver on a bold vision for economic development, community wellbeing, and cultural celebration. You will oversee a capable executive team, guide strategic planning, and ensure operational excellence across all areas of Council. With major initiatives underway—including a $200M housing investment, infrastructure upgrades, and preparations for the 100-year anniversary in 2027 - you will be at the forefront of meaningful, long-term change. Your leadership will be instrumental in building local capacity, fostering small business growth, and enhancing services that directly impact the lives of residents. About You This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment and is enthusiastic about empowering Indigenous communities. With experience working at CEO or Director level in QLD Local Government, you will bring strong governance, financial, and people leadership skills, along with the ability to build trust and foster collaboration.
